By Michelle Norton

On the evening of Monday October 12th Inspector Gary Davey found the body of a child near where two year old Aisling Symes went missing last week. The body was found in a storm water drain on Pomaria road around 6pm of the 12th. The discovery was announced to a crowd that gathered outside a West Auckland home.

While the space has been treated as a crime scene details as to how the child got there have not yet been disclosed.

The NZ herald reports that firefighters began work at around 6 pm this evening. Aisling’s mother has maintained that her two year old daughter went missing from her grandparents Henderson home when her back was turned.

After several inquiries and demands for public information, this is the first breakthrough on the case.

More details will be expected as the body is examined.
